There are three main areas where this could affect you:
- Incandescent ‘rough service’ bulbs are banned
- High and low temperature incandescent bulbs are banned
- Incandescent squirrel cage bulbs made with clear glass are banned
However, some special purpose bulbs will still be available including:
- Oven and refrigerator bulbs
- Infrared heat lamps
- Incandescent decorative bulbs with coloured glass. The coloured or tinted glass indicates it is used for decorative purposes so will still be allowed. This includes those with squirrel cage or spiral filaments.
Following the last regulation that came into force on 1st September 2012 phasing out lightbulbs from 40w down to 15w, there has been a lot of coverage in the media surrounding rough service lightbulbs as replacements for the now phased out household lightbulb. Customers have been contacting lamps-on-line.com to find out the difference between rough service lightbulbs and a regular household lightbulb and asking us if they are suitable replacements for a household lightbulb?
