LED Corn Light
Category Description
LED Corn Light
LED corn lamps, also known as LED corn lights, are designed with multiple LED chips arranged around the lamp to provide powerful, 360-degree illumination. They are an ideal replacement for older high-intensity discharge (HID) lamps, including metal halide, mercury vapour, and high-pressure sodium lamps, offering improved efficiency, reliability, and reduced maintenance requirements.
Suitable for upgrading existing lighting installations, LED corn lamps provide an effective way to improve light quality while significantly reducing energy consumption. They are available in a variety of wattages, colour temperatures, and base options to suit a wide range of lighting requirements.
Applications of LED Corn Lamps
LED corn lamps are widely used in applications where high levels of illumination and long operating hours are required, including:
- Warehouses and industrial facilities
- Factories and manufacturing environments
- Workshops and garages
- Car parks and outdoor lighting areas
- Street lighting and pathway illumination
- Security and perimeter lighting
- Commercial buildings and retail spaces
- Sports facilities and large indoor areas
- Agricultural buildings and farm environments
Their high lumen output and wide beam distribution make LED corn lamps particularly suitable for replacing older discharge lamps in existing fixtures without requiring complete lighting system replacements.
Cost Saving and Environmental Advantages of LED Corn Lamps
Upgrading to LED corn lamps offers significant financial and environmental benefits compared with traditional lighting technologies. Their improved efficiency helps reduce energy consumption while maintaining or enhancing lighting performance.
Key advantages include:
- Reduced energy costs: LED corn lamps consume considerably less electricity than traditional HID and discharge lamps, helping lower ongoing running costs.
- Longer lifespan: With extended service lives, LED corn lamps reduce the frequency of lamp replacements and associated maintenance expenses.
- Lower carbon emissions: Reduced energy usage contributes to lower greenhouse gas emissions and improved sustainability performance.
- Less maintenance downtime: Fewer replacements are required, making them ideal for hard-to-access locations such as high ceilings and outdoor installations.
- Improved light quality: LED technology provides consistent illumination with better colour rendering and instant start-up compared with many traditional lamps.
- Reduced waste: Longer-lasting products help minimise the environmental impact associated with lamp disposal.
For businesses seeking to reduce operating expenses and improve energy efficiency, LED corn lamps provide a practical and sustainable lighting upgrade.
Installation Information for LED Corn Lamps
LED corn lamps are designed as retrofit solutions, allowing many existing lighting fixtures to be upgraded without replacing the entire fitting. They are available with common lamp bases, including screw and bayonet fittings, to suit a variety of applications.
Before installation, consider the following:
- Check the existing lamp wattage, size, and base type.
- Confirm compatibility with the existing fixture.
- Remove or bypass unsuitable ballasts and control gear where required.
- Ensure the lamp has adequate ventilation, as LED corn lamps require airflow to maintain optimum performance.
- Select the correct lumen output and colour temperature for the intended application.
For commercial and industrial installations, professional fitting is recommended to ensure electrical safety, correct operation, and compliance with relevant regulations.
LED corn lamps offer a simple and effective way to modernise existing lighting systems, delivering improved efficiency, reliability, and long-term savings.
Technical
Please note LED Corn Lights operate directly from the mains and don’t require any additional control gear.
If you are upgrading Metal Halide, or High Pressure Sodium lighting to LED Corn Lights, the ballast and Ignitor combination will have to be bypassed.
To replace a high wattage GLS lamp an LED Corn light is a direct plug and play replacement.
